Using the resource

You are encouraged to use this resource in a variety of ways, choosing the starting points and learning styles that best suit you, your students and your curriculum. A few examples of pathways through the site can be found in the section of this guide entitled Learning Pathways.

Before you read on however, take note of the following elements and where they are located within the site. You will find these areas to be of frequent use, so it is a good idea to become as familiar with them as possible.

• The Glossary has definitions of terms used throughout Biotechnology Online. The glossary can be reached either through the Glossary link in the top navigational menu, or by clicking on a highlighted word in the text in any section of Biotechnology Online.

• Resources include interactives, animations, audio and work sheets. These resources have their own indexes, which can be accessed through the Resources link in the top navigational menu.

  • The Interactives index provides short a description of each of the online interactives, with direct links to these interactives on the web site.

  • The Work sheet index provides a short description of each of the student activities, with links to PDF versions of the relevant student work sheets.

• The Teacher advice on student work sheets and interactives provides teacher notes for each student work sheet and activities. These teacher notes are also available as PDF documents.
