Who owns it?

The Human Genome Project was a truly collaborative project. Researchers from across the world were involved and the actual sequencing was conducted at numerous universities and research centres throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan and China.

A rough draft of the sequence was made public on 26 June 2000 with the finished version completed in April 2003. The sequence is made available free of charge to academic researchers and new data on the genome is posted every 24 hours
